We have put together the most common questions in the FAQ:

  • Q: Are there any terms of use? A: Yes. These are accepted by downloading the FruNu Scanner App. These can be viewed on the website under Terms of Use.
  • Q: How do I use the App? Start the App and accept, that the App is using the camera. Then then point the camera at a fruit and wait for recognition.
  • Q: Are the results and nutritional information accurate? We created this app with great care. However, some fruits are recognized incorrectly and the nutritional information is average, which can vary from case to case. If the nutritional information is particularly important to you (e.g. due to illness), do not rely on the information in this app.
  • Q: Does the App work offline? A: Yes, you need no internet connection to run the App.
  • Q: How does the fruit recognition work? A: To create the App, a neural network was trained using sample data. As a result, the network has learned to differentiate the specific properties of the different fruits.
  • Q: What do I use the freeze button for? A: If the App has recognized a fruit and you turn the camera away from it, another fruit may be recognized. The detection is suspended by the freeze button.
  • Q: How can I perform the new freshness check? A: The freshness check is at the moment available for 🍎 🍌 🍊. If one of this fruits have been detected, a button appears. By clicking this button, the freshness check starts automatically.
